In Honor Of Troops, Veterans And Military Families

Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, today announced that in honor of U.S. troops, military families and veterans, it will donate 11 cents from each ice cream scoop sold in its U.S. locations on Veterans Day, November 11, to the United Service Organizations (USO).*

Baskin-Robbins’ Veterans Day program is in support of the USO’s programs and services that help keep America’s military community connected to home throughout their time of service. As part of this year’s campaign, Baskin-Robbins and the USO are asking everyone to take a moment on Veterans Day to thank the more than 1.3 million active duty service members around the world by texting THANKYOU to 50555.**

“Baskin-Robbins’ connection with the military began 70 years ago with our founders, Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, who both served in the military during World War II,” said Weldon Spangler, President, Baskin-Robbins U.S. and Canada. “We’re proud to honor their legacy through our Veterans Day partnership with the USO, which will allow us to make a donation to the organization for every scoop of ice cream sold in our U.S. restaurants in order to support their important mission.”

Baskin-Robbins is also committed to supporting the nation’s military by offering a special veteran’s incentive program for U.S. veterans seeking to open a Baskin-Robbins franchise in the U.S. As part of the program, Baskin-Robbins will waive the 20-year initial franchise fee of $25,000 for their first restaurant. The program also offers a 0% royalty rate for the first two years and a reduced royalty rate for years three through five (the standard royalty rate is 5.9% per year). For qualified, honorably discharged U.S. veterans, this makes Baskin-Robbins’ ownership easier for first-time franchisees.

In addition, The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation is committed to supporting those who help keep our country and neighborhoods safe through partnerships with organizations such as the USO.

*This donation is inclusive of all regular (4oz) and kids (2.5oz) scoops of ice cream sold as cups and cones onWednesday, November 11th, 2015. The donation is based on regular-priced cup and cone scoop sales only, and does not include scoops that are used in other desserts (i.e. sundaes, beverages, cakes, take home, novelties, etc.).

**The text message program is only to send thank-you messages to the troops – it does not solicit donations, and normal message and data rates may apply.
