The Art of Elysium held their seventh annual black-tie gala, “HEAVEN,” on January 11, 2014. Heaven is The Art of Elysium’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting the majority of the foundation’s operating costs, and ensuring the continuation and expansion of its mission to make art a catalyst for social change, and bring creativity into the lives of tens of thousands of hospitalized children. Actors Kate Bosworth and Jesse Metcalfe were among the many luminaries who turned out to show their support for the foundation.
Linda Perry was chosen to serve as the 2014 Visionary, and Ali Larter & Hayes MacArthur were honored with the 2014 “Spirit of Elysium” Award for their involvement in the charity. This year’s gala was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz. Additional support from Tweezerman and Relativity Media as well.
Guests first enjoyed a cocktail hour provided by Perrier-Jouët champagne while they listened to music from Micah Sheiner who played the Tibetan Bowls and Gingger Shankar who played with tabla and Sitar.
Following the cocktail hour, dinner was served and guests watched a fashion show showcasing Marc Jacobs Resort 2014 Collection along with performances by The Smokin Knights, Linda Perry, Rain Phoenix, The Art of Elysium children, Evan Rachel Wood and Steven Tyler.
With the help of Ryan Kavanaugh, Steven Tyler, Linda Perry, Ali Larter & Hayes MacArthur, the organization raised $1.8 MILLION to support the organization.
The hand-crafted tables at the event were purchased by Christian Stracke, Ana M. Hollinger & Tom Kivisto, Kelly Osbourne, Shepard & Amanda Fairey, Mark & Anita Mothersbaugh, Joe Manganiello among many others and will be donated to the hospitals for the children to do art at.
Additionally, Steven Tyler purchased a private dinner party for 60 people with food prepared by Linda Perry’s brother, Jay Perry for $45,000. A partial list of additional celebrity guests included actors Elijah Wood, Topher Grace, James Marsden, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Shanola Hampton, Alicia Witt and Rose McGowan.
