My first job after graduating from Loyola Marymount University 10 years ago was with a minority and woman owned small business publication.  I quickly moved up the ranks from intern to executive and am grateful to the publisher for hiring me and showing me how to be a “wiles woman.” Since then, every professional opportunity I have had has been under the leadership of other dynamic women, including collaboration with inspiring peer mentors.  Of course, I have to pay homage to the ultimate wiles woman in my life, my Mother, who raised me and my younger brother as a single parent.  I have to give her a shout out for completing her MBA this year when most Baby Boomers are retiring. Go Mom!  All of these women have shown me how to be multifaceted, entrepreneurial, confident, philanthropic, ambitious, savvy and sexy.  They have inspired me to be well-rounded, grounded and to do anything to which I set my mind.

Our collective vision here at Wiles, is to cultivate a place and online space for stories about and of interest to influential multi-cultural women like the ones I mentioned above and in my social network:  women who are multi-talented, multi-dimensional and have multiple interests.  Our objective is to establish Wiles magazine as a premiere media resource for women with poise, purpose and power. Inspired by such media icons as Vogue, O, Nylon and W magazines, Wiles strives to provide our readers with relevant content that reflects their lifestyles as 21st century women.

2011 has been named “The Year of Mobile” and at the 2011 South by Southwest (SXSW) annual music, film, and interactive conference and festival held in Austin, Texas, various panel discussions were abuzz with the topic of transmedia.  As a transmedia entity, Wiles has been developed and formatted in a manner to present many stories in multiple mediums that are ideal for women on the go. Each issue will be filled with stories that our readers can access and discuss anytime, anywhere and share.  Every day, week and month Wiles will deliver  and distribute fresh features, Blogs, forums, videos, polls and product promotions.  This is an exciting time to be a woman and all of us here at Wiles are thrilled to bring a platform to women all around the globe so they can voice their opinions, learn from others, and share their stories about life, love, business, politics, health and everything in between.  This is just the beginning.  With your help and support Wiles will grow and flourish.
