Worthwhile Wear is Bicycling Across America to Help

END Human Trafficking

How far would you go to end modern day slavery? On May 18, 2015 Jay Atlas, Sylvester (Sly) Williams and Jonathan Moore from the Philadelphia, PA area will be partnering with Worthwhile Wear. Jay, Sly and Jon will be bicycling from Fargo, North Dakota to San Antonio, Texas to raise awareness for human trafficking and $10,000 for Worthwhile Wear’s housing program, The Well. This awareness and fundraising campaign, also known as Worthwhile GO, will take these intrepid young men on a 3,400 mile adventure through Omaha, Denver, Albuquerque and Dallas.

Team Worthwhile>>GO is riding across America to raise awareness for human trafficking and $10,000 to fund home for survivors. Part of non-profit Worthwhile Wear, Worthwhile>>GO's team of Jon, Sly and Jay (from L to R), will be riding over 3,400 miles through the Summer heat starting in May in Fargo, ND and ending in August in San Antonio, TX. Jay has not wavered in his commitment to raise awareness for this important cause. In 2013, he and his brother, Shannon Sprowal spent three months walking from Atlantic City, New Jersey to Los Angeles, California speaking out against human trafficking. They were joined by individuals, groups, armed forces, and faith-based organizations as they walked through cities and towns.

Last year, Jay and Sly cycled from Seattle, Washington to Miami, Florida to raise awareness about human trafficking. This endeavor took under four months to complete.

“We are proud to be partnering with these men. Their hard work promotes awareness and education which lead to prevention. Prevention leads to more saved lives,” said Dan Emr, Founder of Worthwhile Wear.

Worthwhile Wear was founded to reach and restore women who were forced into sex slavery and to help prevent others from ever having to experience this horrifying existence.  This is done by offering survivors the tools and skills they need to successfully escape and never return. Worthwhile Wear began internationally with restorative programs in India teaching rescued women vocational skills and providing employment through making wearable items (e.g. shirts, jewelry, bags) allowing the women to earn 4-5 times more than their counterparts.

In addition to the programs in India, Worthwhile Wear launched a US based program called The Well that offers long-term housing, aftercare, and employment for sexually exploited and trafficked women.

Worthwhile Wear is a 501c3 non-profit. All gifts are tax deductible and will help in the fight against human trafficking.
