#HerOwnBoss Project

Celebrates the Courage and Triumphs of

Women Entrepreneurs

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the women of the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) are kicking off the month with a story-telling project to highlight and share honest advice, important truths and inspiring stories from women entrepreneurs.

“Women are the fastest growing segment of business owners – yet we still lack the platform to truly share stories of both the growing pains and successes in starting a business,” said Carla Harris, the Presidentially-appointed Chair of the NWBC.

“In our experience, sharing lessons learned and best practices is both empowering and educational for aspiring entrepreneurs. Women shouldn’t feel like they have to reinvent the wheel. We now have so many success stories to share, so we’re getting them out there.”

The National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) is a non-partisan federal advisory council created to serve as an independent source of advice and counsel to the President, Congress, and the U.S. Small Business Administration on economic issues of importance to women business owners.

Launched this month, the #HerOwnBoss project is publishing a set of short interviews with compelling and successful women business owners and leaders from a variety of industries, highlighting advice on how to overcome some of the greatest obstacles to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

“We convene women entrepreneurs regularly, and the recurring theme is a need for more stories of women in business,” said Amanda Brown, Executive Director of the NWBC, “#HerOwnBoss is a great opportunity to shine light on the amazing women entrepreneurs that have overcome their fears, share their lessons learned, and showcase how women can help other women in their entrepreneurial pursuits. We believe this role modeling will inspire more women to launch their own ventures.”
