Safe Kids Worldwide is a global organization dedicated to protecting kids from unintentional injuries, the number one cause of death to children in the United States. Throughout the world, almost one million children die of an injury each year, and every one of these tragedies is preventable.

Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 600 coalitions in the United States and in 23 countries to reduce traffic injuries, drownings, falls, burns, poisonings and more. Since 1988, Safe Kids has helped reduce the U.S. childhood death rate from unintentional injury by 55 percent.

Guests were treated to a “Carnival” themed event featuring classic games and experiences that helped promote child safety, including a center stage ball pit teaching children about water safety, an oversized “in the eyes of a child” kitchen, and even “Click” the Talking Carseat Fortune Teller was on hand to teach children about seatbelt safety.

During story time, the children sat eagerly in a semi-circle listening to Ciara read (and at times sing) children books Pete the Cat and his White Shoes and Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type. As if that wasn’t enough, Drew Barrymore joined in on the fun reading the classic children book, Hop on Pop by Dr Seuss. When finished, kids in the audience yelled to her to read When Miles Got Mad. In true Drew spirit, she happily obliged.

Nearby, WNBA all-star Tina Charles and former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matthew Hatchette were seen playing basketball with kids, while BMX pro Chris Clark performed his signature bicycle stunt show, teaching children about helmet safety.
