LONDON FASHION WEEK SS15

LONDON FASHION WEEK SS 2015

The best and brightest of SS 2015 were at London Fashion Week and if you didn’t make it to the shows, take a look at some of our picks for the best of the runway.

PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND

www.pringlescotland.com

Pringle of Scotland is the iconic brand founded in 1815 at the birthplace of the Scottish knitwear industry. From the beginning technical innovation has led to the creation of knitwear as outerwear, the signature argyle pattern and the classic twinset. We love the cool, sleek simplicity of this collection. Deftly placed details made perfect accents that didn’t weigh the delicate garments down. If you’re planning to summer in the Hamptons or on the Vineyard, pieces from Pringle of Scotland are absolute must-haves.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

Born in Glossop, Derbyshire, Vivienne Westwood’s design signature is the adaptation of historical garment construction into modern clothing. This aesthetic is alive and evident in her current collection, and we love the statements she makes through pieces like  corsets, embellished hats and 1940’s pinstriped suits.

“My customers are the best ambassadors for my clothes,” Westwood said.  “When people discover them, they seem to have an edge. Honestly, although I’m very proud of my customers, I also love to dress the supermodels. Glamour has a sense of archetype and I adore those archetypal beauties. Fashion is alive when it is being worn and talked about.”

DAKS

www.daks.com

Filippo studied at Harvard in the early 1980s before moving on to the School of Fashion Psychology at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where he was awarded a Master’s Degree in 1993. For the next two years he was Assistant Designer at Donna Karan, working on the menswear line and collaborating directly with Ms Karan. He then became Visual Merchandising Manager for Ralph Lauren, helping to develop menswear collections for four seasons.  He was personal assistant to the designer Michael Kors for the first year of his tenure as creative director for the Celine label.

Daks is one of the designer’s whose collections we anticipate most each season at LFW, and this season’s chic, soft, feminine collection featuring details like ostrich feathers and embellished flowers is yet another example of the sophisticated yet wearable fashion we’ve come to expect and love from him.

MARCHESA

www.marchesa.com

British born Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have built a fashion empire defined by elegant eveningwear and one of a kind couture designs. The duo met at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. Georgina’s draping and design expertise paired with Keren’s textile creations resulted in a business partnership and the establishment of Marchesa in 2004.

Georgina and Keren’s beautifully crafted runway collections and accessories line fuse exquisite detailing with supreme femininity. Coveted not only by celebrities, but by women of all ages, Marchesa continues to be the centerpiece of iconic red carpet moments and high end fashion alike. Based in New York, the Marchesa collections are presently available worldwide. Now with the launch of their premiere fragrance, there is a new and enticing way to experience the luxury of Marchesa. We love the craftsmanship, taste and drama that Marchesa brought to this season’s collection. The designers are wonderfully skilled in balancing the bold and the delicate and incorporating both elements seamlessly into unforgettably elegant pieces.
