BRING BACK OUR GIRLS

On April 15, nearly 300 girls were kidnapped at gunpoint from their school dormitories in Nigeria by members of an Islamic extremist group called Boko Haram.  The leader of the group, Abubakar Shekau , has claimed that Western education and influences were the impetus for the abduction and has threatened that the girls will be sold into marriage as part of an enormous human trafficking ring.

While some of the girls did manage to escape, it is estimated that nearly 270 still remain captive. The inability of the Nigerian military to rescue the girls ignited outrage throughout the nation and the world.

Former Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton and celebrities like R &B singer Mary J. Blige have lent their voices to the growing international movement  – pleading that leaders from the United States, Great Britain and elsewhere intervene and help lead efforts to rescue the girls from their captors.
