WOMEN IN FILM, LOS ANGELES PRESENTED THE 2014 CRYSTAL + LUCY AWARDS®

On Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, Los Angeles, CA , Women In Film, Los Angeles (WIF) celebrated extraordinary talent and achievement with the 2014 Crystal + Lucy Awards, themed Exceptional. The evening, hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and sponsored by Presenting Sponsor MaxMara, and Premiere Sponsors BMWPerrier-Jouët, and South Coast Plaza raised funds and awareness for WIF and its many educational and philanthropic programs.

VIP guests arrived in a range of premium BMW vehicles, including the BMW 7 Series, 6 Series, X5 and ALPINA. The revolutionary BMW i8, a plug-in hybrid, high-performance electric vehicle, was also featured on the red carpet alongside attendees. The BMW i8 is part of BMW i, the BMW Group’s forward-looking and sustainable brand dedicated to solving many of the mobility challenges faced by the world’s most densely populated cities.

Scandal Creator and show runner Shonda Rhimes presented series star Kerry Washington with WIF’s The Lucy Award for Excellence in Television and praised her for being the first African American woman in 40 years to star in a network drama. At her first public event since becoming a new mom, Kerry Washington graciously accepted her award as her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, proudly watched from their table.

During Rose Byrne’s acceptance speech, she thanked Nicola Maramotti of Max Mara for presenting the 2014 Women In Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award to her and said  “especially for referring me as ‘refined’. Clearly she has not seen Neighbors!”

Laura Dern presented WIF’s The Crystal Award for Excellence in Film to Cate Blanchett and praised her for being exceptional and her commitment to her craft and the generosity in which [she] has shared the exploration of her work with her audience is the ultimate gift worth endless applause.”

During Eva Longoria’s acceptance speech for The Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award®, the actress/producer/philanthropist praised each of her fellow honorees including The Dorothy Arzner Directors Award Jennifer Lee (Writer/Directed, Frozen) for “inspiring us to Let It Go.”

The evening also celebrated Bonnie Spence, Chair Emeritus, and Judith Parker Harris, Founding Chair, of the WIF PSA Production Program (The PSA Program) with The Founder’s Award (“The Tichi”) in recognition of their distinguished service to WIF.
