DOWNTIME: ORLANDO, FL

Downtime: Orlando, FL

By Francesca Merced

I don’t know about you, but I always feel a little hung-over during the month of January – and it has nothing to do with an over-indulgence of alcohol.

With the spectacle and festivities of the holiday season over, it’s pretty hard for me to look forward to going back to business as usual. If you’re not quite ready to pack up the pageantry and colored lights, then I recommend adding a little magic to your month with a trip to one of the United States’ most popular winter destinations: Orlando, Florida.

With an average high around 27 degrees during the month of January, you can leave your winter duds at home and pack your shorts, summer dresses and wedges!  And don’t forget the sunscreen because they don’t call Florida “Te Sunshine State” for nothing!

When visiting central Florida, you know that a trip to Disney World and the various other attractions in the area is an ideal way to spend a family day. From Sea World to Universal Studios, you can idle away days at the theme parks alone. But how many of you know that there are plenty of single-girl activities to enjoy in the area, as well?

An afternoon stroll through the Lake Eola neighborhood is a great way to enjoy some sunshine, fresh air and take in a little Orlando history all at the same time. Orlando also prides itself on being a Bicycle Friendly Community, so you may want to consider 2-wheeled transportations instead of bothering with pesky rental cars.

For shopping options, you’ll need to look no further than the Mall at Millenia, where you’ll find every girl’s favorite brands all housed under one stylish roof.  From Chanel and lululemon athletica to Gucci and Godiva, you’ll revel in the other happiest place on earth!

So while the rest of us are bundled up and trying to beat the cold, take a trip down to Orlando for some single girl’s fun in the sun!
