Down Time: Thanksgiving Pilgrim Style

Looking for last-minute ideas for Thanksgiving? Why not celebrate pilgrim style!

Just a quick jaunt from Boston Logan Airport, Plymouth,MA is the site where, according to the history books, the first Thanksgiving feast was observed.  Known as “America’s Hometown,” Plymouth was founded in 1620 by the Pilgrims – the passengers of the famous ship the Mayflower – and is where good old New England was first established.

Holiday visitors to Plymouth, MA will literally have the opportunity to step back in time and enjoy a family-style harvest dinner much like the first Thanksgiving feast by stopping by Plimoth Plantation.  With meals planned at regularly scheduled times from Saturday, November 23 through Saturday, November 30, guests will dine on scrupmtious Old World delicassies such as ciderkin and cheate bread and butter, mussels seeth’d with parsley and beer, a pottage of cabbage, leeks  and onions and cheesecake made with spice and dried fruit.

Dinnertime entertainment includes tales of Old and New England, a history on the famous harvest celebration of 1621, and performances of centuries-old psalms and songs.
