FASHION & BEAUTY

It’s quite possible that 2012 may go down in history as one of the most spectacular years ever for London!  On the heels of the international spectacle of the London Summer Games and historical performances on Centre Court at Wimbeldon, some of the city’s brightest design stars took center stage at London Fashion Week from September 14 – 19. Over five fashionable days, the UK’s style glitterati were treated to lavish events, stunning exhibitions and runway shows from some of the city’s hottest designers.  Take a peek at some of our favorite looks from London!

DESIGNER: ACNE LONDON – Ready to Wear, Shoes, Accessories

www.acnestudios.com

Founded in Stockholm in 1996 by four creatives, Acne’s ambition was to create and develop a lifestyle brand through desirable products, as well as helping other people to build their brands. This ambition led to diverse assignments in advertising, graphic design, Internet games and TV production.

“Fashion is the best form of self-expression. We like to design pieces that together form the coolest wardrobe, but is ultimately wearable. It becomes one way of thinking as individual pieces, but together creates a strong, modern and considered statement.” Explains Jonny Johansson, Acne’s Creative Director.

We love the Acne collection for its bold edge and modern feminine sensibility. Take a look:

DESIGNER: DION LEE – Ready to Wear

Easy elegance, structure and simple sleek silhouettes are just a few of the attributes of the Spring/Summer 2013 offerings from Dion Lee. Our favorite looks from his collection include soft dresses with bursting pops of color and soft chic pants.

DESIGNER: FELDER FELDER – Ready to Wear

www.felderfelder.com

Sisters Annette and Daniela Felder are from Germany, but consider London their home.  Their signatures are “modern, sexy and cool,” and they describe their ideal client as a charismatic woman who is at ease with herself and the world. “Age doesn’t matter. A Felder Felder woman is young at heart and she is a little wild too.”

We love the contrasts of the Felder Felder collection – like the daring animal print accented gently with a soft pastel palette – on garments that look and move effortlessly.

DESIGNER: THOMAS TAIT – Ready to Wear

www.thomastait.com

Originally Montreal, Canada, Tait completed a technical degree in womenswear at College LaSalle in Montreal, followed by an MA in womenswear at Central Saint Martins, London.  His signatures are “Clean, understated structure with a focus on curve-linear silhouettes,” and he describes his current collection as “Teenage mutant cosmic disco trip.”

We love the bold use of color in the collection and the runway show’s setting – an open space featuring graffiti-smattered walls – made taking in the Tait collection a fully immersive and engaging experience.
