COVER STORY: CHRISTINA MILIAN

You’ve seen her in movies and on magazine covers, in music videos and in her current stint as host on the hit music competition The Voice, but Wiles has Christina Milian as you’ve probably never seen her before: as a designer!

The sexy siren recently showed the 2013 Spring/Summer collection of her Havana Nights”  Christina Milian for Nicolita swim wear line at LA Fashion Weekend, and Wiles was front row on the runway to take it all in!

Prior to the show, the lovely Ms. Milian greeted the anxious crowd with a beaming smile and an enthusiastic “Thank you for coming, I’m so excited to be here!”

Nicolita swimwear creates bikini looks that are reminiscent of Cuba’s alluring 1940’s and 50’s era with a California twist.  The energy, sophistication and sultry sex appeal that Christina is known for blend seamlessly with Nicole di Rocco’s vision as a designer, and it is evident in every piece of the Havana Nights by Christina Milian for Nicolita collection.

Originally founded in 2003 by Cuban-American designer Nicole di Rocco, the brand’s designs and creative direction have traditionally been designed for sexy curvaceous Latina figures and seek to flatter every body type.

The Nicolita brand has made empowering young Cubans and Cuban-Americans to learn about and celebrate their heritage a priority.  A portion of the proceeds raised from Nicolita products is donated to the Raices de Esperanza (Roots of Hope) organization – which seeks to help Cubans reunite with their relatives on the island.

Milian, who met di Rocco a year ago, said one of the things she was most proud of regarding the collaboration was the opportunity it gave her to tap into her own Cuban roots.

“Nicole and I have so much in common, including our love for our culture. We have a natural and great working relationship.”

Themes like animal print set against vibrant color, Cuban-style bottoms and a clear inspiration from the 1940’s are gorgeous attributes of the Havana Nights collection.

“I love how versatile the line is,” Milian said. “It’s comfortable, the pieces mix and match well, they’re extremely flattering and they’re fun!”
