FASHION & BEAUTY

It may be spring, but, here at Wiles, we’re ready for fall and the exciting fall looks featured at London Fashion Week, L.A. Concept Week and L.A. Fashion Weekend this season!  From stunning tailored suiting, to amazing pops of color, London was abuzz with structure and style as the city’s top designers turned out their looks for fall.  His Royal Highness Prince William even stopped by to take it all in.  With so many shows, it was nearly impossible to whittle our list down to just a few favorites to share, but, somehow, we managed!  Take a quick peek at some of our favorite shows from across the Pond!

TOPMAN DESIGN – Previously on the runway alongside other designers at MAN – the ground breaking menswear event started by Topman and Lulu Kennedy of Fashion East and now lauded as kick starting the Menswear schedule at London Fashion Week – Topman Design now holds its own alongside established menswear designers during the dedicated day.

E. TAUTZ – According to E. Tautz designer Patrick Grant, “At the heart of the E. Tautz collection is Savile Row cutting; elegant shoulders, suppressed waist, well proportioned, well balanced and unfussy in keeping with the sporting and military traditions.”
He describes the E.Tautz man as a man with “a classic English sensibility mixed with a kind of schoolboy humour; he likes to dress elegantly, but enjoys clothes with wit.”
E.Tautz won the Menswear Designer award at the British Fashion Awards 2010. To shop the collection, please visit:  www.etautz.com.

HOLLY FULTON – Holly Fulton’s design signatures include “graphic print, luxurious materials and hot accessories.”  As she explained, “It sums up my ethos of things that are easy to wear yet luxurious, incorporating my favorite color combination of black and white, with a feel of contemporary elegance which you can take anywhere.”  She describes the Holly Fulton woman as “anyone who knows what they like and likes what I do.”  Holly Fulton won the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award for Accessories at the British Fashion Awards 2009.  She was also the British Fashion Coucil/ELLE Talent Launch Pad winner in 2010).  To shop the collection, please visit:  www.hollyfulton.com.

EMILIANO DE LA MORENA – Emiliano studied at Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion. He has worked for Rafael Lopez and Jonathan Saunders.  He describes his design signatures as “sculptural chic.”  The Emilio de la Morena woman is “strong and modern. She knows her own mind and is not afraid to stand out; nor is she scared of expressing herself in a vibrant and bold way.”  To shop the collection, please visit:  www.emiliodelamorena.com

For years, Project Ethos has been a staple of major fashion events in Los Angeles, and Wiles was again, honored to support this brilliant fashion art and music event.  The pre-show VIP reception featured delectable cocktails and delicacies courtesy of L.A.’s own Sweet Treats bakery.  Inside, fashions from familiar faces like Johanna Hernandez’s GLAUDI line stunned the capacity crowd.  We particularly adored the Boditecture show whose functional wear was as versatile as it was stylish.  Take a look at the various looks within each piece!

In addition to stunning runway shows, LA Concept Week offered some intriguing installations from some of our old favorites.  Our favorite wunderkind Bryan Hearns was back with his signature ostrich feather skirts and flawlessly structured tops.  The always- elegant Thai Nguyen’s installations brought an unparalleled glamour to the scene.  And Paul Redmond’s offerings burst with color and an edgy sensibility that were among our very favorites.

When it came to the runway shows, L. A. Concept Week definitely didn’t fail to please. Designer Laili Lau took us on an enchanting journey through the trees with her delicate designs inspired by nature and the forest, while the ever austere and feminine designs from Sarah Ahn’s NAMI fall/winter collection presented a gorgeous blend of color and lace.  And speaking of color, the “Man in black” himself – Mr. Johnny Cash – would’ve been proud to witness models donning S&G’s Spanish cowboy-inspired offerings walking the runway to his “Walk the Line.”

Sunset Gower Studios was, again, home to L.A. Fashion Weekend this season and Wiles was there to cover it all.  Little Black Dress Vodka and rapper/producer/model Pharrell Williams’ Qream Liquer made delicious appearances at the pre-show cocktail receptions, and the shows on the runway – which included luminaries like Betsey Johnson and a Housewife from Orange County –  were equally exquisite.  Check out looks from two of our absolutely favorite runway shows from Skineez and the lovely Ashlee Brooks!

We got right down to our skivvies with SKINEEZ and we loved every moment!  The sexy lingerie and active wear line boasted bold patterns and flattering shapes that were far too fabulous to hide under clothes.  The runway styling featuring flirty little hats and heels were the perfect pieces to accent each look.

And as you will see, the rich fall tones from ASHLEE BROOKS’ offerings were a perfect balance to the simply elegant textures from the collection as the pieces gracefully glided down the catwalk.

Congratulations, again, to producer and host Mikey Koffman and her entire team for another stylish and successful fashion event.  Wiles will see you all in the fall!
