Socialite Spotlight: The Artform Studio

Located just outside Little Tokyo in the artist district, this week’s Socialite Spotlight is on The Artform Studio, a unique place where creativity flourishes.

Since 2005, the studio started out as a beauty salon offering services including haircuts, hair coloring, mens’ grooming, nails, hair extensions, lash extensions, and makeup application to a clientele of downtown Los Angeles professionals.  The studio also hosts special events on makeup, hair and fashion to the public.

But it has gone one unique step further.

In May 2011, The Artform Studio launched a record store of eclectic and vintage music as part of the salon.  Music genres of all types can be found, and live music is played — not from a stereo but from an actual turntable.  The décor is retro chic, and album covers line the walls.  You can basically browse through records while waiting for your salon appointment.  The mood is relaxed and atmosphere laid back.  Whenever vinyl is around, there is definitely a nostalgic ambience.

The Artform is also now the Saturday venue for Soul Circle Radio, who hosts their radio show live there every Saturday, featuring special guests such as Parisian R&B songstress ilhame and DJ Rob Swift.
