Mr. Right

Since diseases like breast and ovarian cancer primarily impact women, it’s rare and extraordinary to find men engaged in the struggle to fight them.  This month’s Mr. Right feature is dedicated to 3 men who have been on the front lines of the movement to raise awareness and find a cure to eradicate both of these grave illnesses.

Richard Roundtree The actor best known for his portrayal of the titular character in the movie Shaft was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. He’s now a spokesperson for early detection and speaks to predominantly male groups about his experience.

Ricardo Antonio Chavira – After the Desperate Housewives star’s mother died from breast and ovarian cancer, he became San Antonio, TX’s honorary spokesman for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Patrick Dempsey Grey’s Anatomy fans already know that Patrick Dempsey is McDreamy, but did you know that his compassion extends into real life, as well? Dempsey has been an active cancer advocate since his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1996.  (She’s now in remission).
